“Don’t be so attached to who you are in the present that you don’t give the future you a chance”
–Vinh Giang
Expanding the comfort zone means stepping into a realm of unfamiliarity.
Unfamiliar is often uncomfortable. It creates friction that is hard to push through.
Our brain might start to initiate thoughts like:
- I can’t do this.
- This isn’t who I am.
- I’m not good at this.
- I wish I could do it, but I just don’t have the talent that other people have.
To an extent, the brain is right. But it’s missing a pivotal word: yet.
- I can’t do this yet.
- This isn’t who I am yet.
- I’m not good at this yet.
- I wish I could do it, but I just don’t have the talent that other people have yet.
It’s true, the current version of you may not be able to do the thing that you wish you could do. But if you let that stop you, then you are never giving the future version of you a chance to become the type of person that can do it.
Keep pushing at the edge of your comfort zone.
Keep taking those small steps.
The future version of you will look back one day and thank you for doing it.

Love this.
A reminder that growth/change is uncomfortable and that’s okay.
Thank you Jess! ❤️
